Relevance to Generation Z: COVID-19 hospitalizations have dipped below 60,000 for the first time since November 2020. Daily new cases have also dipped, but public health experts are demanding fast vaccinations as concern over more transmissible variants grows. The progression of the COVID-19 pandemic has a variety of implications for our generation's ability to go about jobs, school, and socialization.
COVID-19 hospitalizations are down 55% with about 59,800 COVID positive patients in U.S hospitals compared to January’s peak of 132,470 patients. COVID-19 numbers in the United States have now dipped to mirror November’s numbers. The daily averages for new COVID-19 cases have also dropped since the January peak. Health experts, however, are more adamant than ever on demanding fast procurement and distribution of vaccinations as they fear the new more contagious COVID variants could increase COVID numbers again.
