Relevance to Generation Z:
The virus is responsible for over half of the Covid cases in the U.K. and upholds a greater need to comply with Covid-19 safety measures.
The new Covid-19 variant, which was initially identified in the U.K. in December, has now been identified in Covid cases across dozens of countries, most likely through individuals who traveled unaware of the fact that they were carriers of the virus. The variant, B.1.1.7, is thought to have originated in Southern England in September of 2020 and was detected in November of 2020. The new variant is responsible for over half of all Covid cases in the U.K. and is most prevalent in those aged 20 and under. B.1.1.7 is mutating, with 17 mutations already having been identified.
