Jeff Bezos Goes to Space

July 21, 2021|WORLD NEWS

Relevance to Generation Z: Generation Z has grown up in the era of Amazon and home deliveries, and the COVID pandemic has only increased the prevalence of ordering online. Bezos is also the richest man in the world, and a common household name. Many members of Gen-Z have grown up hearing about Amazon's growing prevalence and Bezos's increased wealth as a result.

On July 20th, 2021, Jeff Bezos and a small crew traveled into space. The flight was eleven minutes, and the crew returned safely. Bezos was accompanied by his brother, Mark Bezos, Oliver Daemen, and Wally Funk. It is important to note that Daemen traveled aboard Blue Origin (the name of the space craft) at only 18 years old. He replaced the original passenger, who paid millions of dollars to be aboard Blue Origin, who cancelled due to a "scheduling conflict." Funk, who is 82 years old and a pioneer within space travel was the only woman on the craft.
