Relevance to Generation Z: This article provides insight into the power of an incumbent president and shows us the transition of power and changes made by a new president. This is especially topical due to the fact that 29% of Generation Z are immigrants or the children of immigrants and as a generation, the majority agree that immigration makes the U.S. stronger and more welcoming, and open to immigration. The racial and ethnic diversity of Gen Z, increased by immigration, not only distinguishes the generation but influences its political and social views
Throughout Mr. Trump's term, there were many evident changes that he made to the United States immigration policies. However, numerous smaller changes went unnoticed and will take some deeper searching if President Biden wants to truly reverse most of Mr.Trump's prior modifications to American immigration policy. A law professor, Lucas Guttentag, created a collection of all of Donald Trump's immigration changes, along with the inconspicuous ones. This database is called Immigration Policy Tracking Project and has collected 1,064 separate modifications made during Mr.Trump's presidency from 2017 to 2021. These changes include but are not limited too, canceling certain programs, changing the way immigration law is adjudicated, and over 100 official rule modifications. These reforms are targeted at both illegal and legal immigrants in an attempt to decrease the entrance of foreigners into the United States. If incumbent President Biden wishes to reverse many of the changes made by Mr. Trump he will need to look closely at the fine print and work in conjunction with the Immigration Policy Tracking Project.
